More than a year has passed since I lost my son in a car accident. My heart was touched by a profound pain that night, a pain that I initially thought I would never overcome. It was after I had pushed all of the pain somewhere deep inside and my friends and acquaintances marvelled at how well I was doing that I met Maja by chance. It was Maja who taught me what a terribly heavy burden I bear inside. She is an expert in her field and knew exactly how to help me address my feelings and control my thoughts. Above all, I am thankful for the warm and humane approach she took with me. She stood by my side when I needed help the most and, despite her heavy workload, took the time to talk to me. She laughed with me, and even cried when things got bad. It is because of her that I am a stronger person today. Every one of us experiences moments in life when we are dissatisfied with ourselves or those around us, when we are sad or hit rock-bottom. In such moments, I find great comfort in Maja’s words, which fill me with love and faith. |
In addition to expertise and professional support, psychological support also includes COMPASSIONATE EMPATHY for patients and their loved ones, in part due to Ms Vukasović Žontar’s own similar personal experiences over the last forty years.
It is the ability to LISTEN to patients and their loves ones with compassion and understanding in the safety of complete trust and dignified respect that makes it possible for them to address and resolve their inner-most feelings, thoughts and emotions.
Psychological support combines various techniques of positive psychology, assertive communication and deep relaxation (calming of thoughts).
